Administration Division
1 additional post of Senior Trade Officer is provided for secondment to the Colonial Secretariat.
Controls Division
1 additional Trade Officer is provided to relieve the Assistant Director of detailed operational work in the various sections. 1 new post of Executive Officer is provided for the Dutiable Commodities Branch to strengthen the executive control over the day-to-day routines in view of the large increase in cor- respondence and issues of permits and licences. 2 additional Clerks are also provided for the Permits Section and Licensing Section to deal with increased documentation work. Additional posts of 2 Senior Revenue Inspectors, 8 Revenue Inspectors, 10 Revenue Sub-Inspectors and 5 Senior Revenue Officers are provided for the Industry Branch and Investigation Branch of the Preventive Service.
Development Division
1 additional post each of Trade Officer and Assistant Trade Officer are provided for duties in connexion with market research studies, and 1 further Assistant Trade Officer for the Export Promotion Section. The 2 Secretary Stenographers are for the Overseas Trade Relations Section and Trade Promotion Section. The 8 additional posts of Clerk are provided for duties in connexion with market research (2), trade inquiries (1) and the industrial production statistics programme (5). 3 Typists are provided to handle the increased work load arising from the expansion of activities in the Division. 1 Senior Machine Operator, 1 Junior Machine Operator and 4 Punch and Verifier Operators are provided for data processing work.
Textiles and Certification Division
This Division was created during 1962-63, the staff comprising partly additional posts approved by Special Warrant and partly posts transferred from other divisions. In addition, new posts of 1 Trade Officer, 1 Confidential Assistant and 1 Typist are provided for duties in connexion with Commonwealth Preference and certificates of origin.
London Office
2 posts of Clerical Officer and 1 Paperkeeper were approved by Special Warrant during 1962-63 in connexion with the move of the Office to new and larger premises. 2 further posts of Clerical Officer are included to handle more secretarial and typing work. 1 additional post of Higher Executive Officer is provided to assist the Principal Information Officer.
The bulk of the supernumerary posts included are for two purposes the Display Centre of Hong Kong Products and the Budgetary Survey.
Other Charges Annually Recurrent show an increase of approximately 20%. This is mainly accounted for by the hire of additional data processing equipment, budgetary survey expenses, and the run- ning costs of the Display Centre of Hong Kong Products.
