Details of the sources of grants for projects in respect of which provision is included for 1962-63 are set out in the footnotes to this Head.
Of the two new projects included, the Shau Kei Wan Secondary Modern School will provide a junior secondary course for 1,920 pupils who have passed the Secondary School Entrance Examination but at a level insufficiently high to justify admission to a full secondary course. This junior secondary course will be of 3 years duration and will have a strong practical bias. The other new project, the Kwong Wah Infirmary, involves the construction of an infirmary block providing some 280 beds for tuberculosis and chronic cases.
Of the other projects, the Children's Reception Centre will provide a temporary home for children who have been abandoned or are otherwise in need of care and protection, for investigation and observation pending a decision on their future. It will be built in Kowloon and will provide accommodation for up to 100 children.
