Administration
The post of Director of Commerce and Industry will be filled by an Administrative Officer Staff Grade A as from 1st September 1962, when the present holder goes on leave prior to retirement. One addi- tional post of Assistant Trade Officer and two additional posts of Clerk are created for leave reserve purposes.
Controls Division
The post of Officer-in-charge of the Kowloon Office will, with effect from 1st April 1962, be filled by an Assistant Trade Officer (new post) and the Trade Officer previously in charge will take over the duties of a newly created post of Trade Officer in this Division.
A post of Confidential Assistant was approved by Special Warrant during 1961-62 in order to handle control of exports of cotton textiles to the U.S.A.
Three additional clerks are provided, one each for the Dutiable Commodities Office (to deal with drawback applications and Import and Export statements), the Certification Branch (to handle the check- ing of stock and production returns of factories under the Comprehensive Certificate of Origin system) and the Licensing Branch (to assist in the control of exports of cotton textiles to the U.S.A.).
Five additional posts of Revenue Inspector are provided to strengthen the Investigation Branch of the Preventive Service.
