One additional Assistant Trade Officer is provided to assume responsibility for the day-to-day industrial development work, thus enabling the Senior Trade Officer to direct his attention to matters of policy concerning the development of industry etc.
The need to bring and maintain up-to-date information on tariffs and quota restrictions in force and to make available data for future Trade Missions necessitates the provision of an additional post of Assist- ant Statistician.
Two additional posts of typist are provided, one each for the Publications and Trade Develop- ment Branches, to deal with the increased volume of typing work.
London Office
A new post of Higher Executive Officer is included to lessen the detailed administrative work hitherto handled by the Director of the London Office and to enable the latter to direct his attention more to the textile and other trade issues.
Other Charges Annually Recurrent show a net increase of $196,800 over the previous year's figure. The main items of increase are: Trade promotion expenses-$140,000, due to increased activities; and Trade publications---$103,000, to meet the cost of printing an increased number of copies necessary to cater for rising demand.
Under Special Expenditure, provision is included for additional punch card equipment to enable the department to undertake additional statistical work, for three radio telephony sets and for the conversion of the existing radio telephony network to V.H.F.

One new post of Interpreter/Translator and 2 new posts of Typist have been provided to deal with the increased volume of clerical work throughout the department. Two additional posts of Co-operative Society Supervisor are required to cope with the continuing growth of the Co-operative Movement in the Colony. Two additional posts of Craft Technician have been provided to assist in the introduction of mechanical fishing aids and to carry out the ever-increasing volume of investigation and supervisory work required in connexion with loans for the mechanization or modernization of fishing vessels. The additional post of Fisheries Supervisor Class I, offset by the reduction of one post of Fisheries Supervisor Class II, is required for the new field research station at Kat O.
