A decision to apply a more detailed audit to certain major items of expenditure has necessitated staff increases of 2 Senior Examiners and 3 Examiners.

The post of supernumerary clerk has been abolished due to the return of one General Clerical Service Clerk from a period of secondment at the Central Office of the Overseas Audit Department.

The net decrease under Other Charges Annually Recurrent results from deletion of the subhead "Secondment to Central Office of the Overseas Audit Department" upon completion of the secondment.

It is expected that the Airport will be operated on a 24-hour basis from the beginning of the new financial year. This necessitates the increases in staff listed above which together with normal increments have resulted in an increase of $182,800 in the vote for personal emoluments.

Under Special Expenditure, the provision of $196,500 for Motor Vehicles includes a revote of $178,000 for a Fire Armour 6 × 6 Crash Tender, $16,000 for one fast vehicle for the Fire Section and $2,500 for one trailer for the Air Traffic Control Division for transportation of night flying equipment to the runway in case of emergency.
