My dear Ashley,
This is just to confirm the message,
which I gave to Philip Broad over the telephone this
morning, that the Netherland Minister for Foreign
Affairs fully agrees with His Majesty's Government's
proposed reply to Mr. Godfrey Phillip's enquiry, es
to the attitude of British subjects in occupied China
towards the Japanese administration.
A similar enquiry as to the attitude
of Netherland nationals so far has not reached my
Government.
