CHINESE CURRENCY
I enclose a copy of an extract
from "Finance and Commerce" of 26th June,
reporting an interview with Mr. Shizuo Shimada,
Vice-Consul and Commercial Attache to the
Japanese Consulate-General at Shanghai, and
one of the senior officials in the local
office of the Asia Development Board, It would
appear from Mr. Shimada's statements that the
Japanese authorities have, at any rate for the
time being, no intention of replacing Chinese
national currency by any other.
