Welfare of Chinese students in England in the event of a European war.

Has received from Board of Education copy of Foreign Office letter of 18th April (F 3262/3262/10). Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and Edinburgh have stated that so far as possible arrangements will be made to continue instruction.Plans for evacuation of Chinese students in event of war from London University were made on the understanding that no foreign students should be included in the estimate of numbers to be evacuated.Encloses statement of numbers of Chinese students in attendance. Enquires whether Foreign Office would be prepared to make a general statement that. Chinese students should be placed in a preferential position vis-a-vis other foreign students.
