Desertion of two men of the Royal Scots at Hong Kong. Transmits copy of telegram from General Officer Commanding Hong Kong No. 5767 of 26th October referring to his no. 5659 (F 10913/3361/10) The Two Royal
Scots were returned by the Japanese on 25th October Considers that this action shows that Japanese in Canton wish to maintain reasonable attitude. On the other hand it is stated that the tow Indians escaped on the way to Canton and have not yet been located There is no reason to believe this and it is possible
in Registry 31st Oct. 1939 that the Japanese may return them laterį
