Proposed Anglo-Chinese collaboration in the event of a European war.

Chinese Ambassador called and stated that he had received instructions to approach Foreign Office regarding the position of China in the event of a general conflagration in Europe. In case of war Chinese Government wished to state that they would like to keep in close contact with His Majesty's Government and would be prepared to collaborate to 23rd Mar.1939fullest possible extent with them with a view to

protection of their mutual interests. Chinese Government would be glad to be informed of view of His Majesty's Government as to how this objective could be attained.
