Am I correct in assuming that whereas we are generally glad to see credit extension to China from any source, we do not welcome it in the present instance, since it necessarily implies the eventual granting of contracts to Germans which otherwise might have gone to British firms, not only in connexion with materials to be specified in credit arrangements but as part of a general German trade drive.
If this is so it might possibly be well for me to mention this report to Donald.
