Regulations Relating to the Reformed Government's Control of the Silk Industry in Central China.

(Extracts from the (Reformed) "Government Gazette"

No. 38 of 23rd January, 1939).

1. Regulations Governing the Central China Silk Company, Ltd.

(Originally promulgated on November 21, 1938).

In view of the fact that the silk reeling industry

in Central China has been allowed to remain in a confused

state resulting in internecine competition among members

of the industry which in turn is responsible for unnecessary

economic losses, the Government has decided to out the

industry under proper control for the protection of

the interests of those engaged in the industry. The

Central China Silk Industry Company, Ltd., will undertake

the proper development of the industry and all existing

houses will be incorporated into the company, while no

new establishments will be allowed.

As the cocoon rearing industry is closely allied to

the silk reeling industry, the Central China Silk

Company will also undertake this activity and all existing

cocoon rearing concerns will be required to cooperate

in the work of adjusting the quality and supply of

cocoons.

Important changes in the business policy of the

Central China Silk Comneny, and the appointment of the

senior officials thereof, will be made with the approval

of the Government.

2. Provisional Measures relating to the control of the

Silk and Cocoon industries by the Ministry of Industry:-

(Originally promulgated on September 29, 1938).

Cocoon rearing enterprises, silk reeling factories,

and cocoon dealing houses in the three provinces of
