Your paragraph 1 most helpful and acceptable here. But are we to understand that you now waive proviso in paragraph 4 of your telegram No. 350?

If we can assure Service Departments that question of military lands will be dealt with separately and that in no circumstances would compensation (if any) agreed to be payable for lands be abated by amount paid for regiments, then we see no further difficulty. It would of course be open to you to press your case on lands on merits, and we would certainly support you so far as we could.
