Kal Tak Airport:
K.A.F. Facilities.
Air Ministry has proposed that A.0.0., Hong Kong, should be authorised to negotiate direct with your Government on the reprovision services which will be needed by the R..F. at the reconstructu airport of Kai Tak.
2.
Reply has been given that no objection is seen to the proposal but that, in the event of failure to reach agreement in Hong Kong, my position must be regarded as reserved pending consideration of the points at issue.
3.
It is understood that the k... is chiefly interested in the reprovision of facilities which will be lost through demolition, isolation, or other changes caused by the re-alişment of Clearwater Bay koad. Even in that context the Air Ministry proposes to refrain from arranging for work on buildings, roads, hardstandings, sports facilities, etc., which would be excessive in relation to future R.A.F. commitments at Kai Tak.
4.
Grateful to be kept informed of
developments.
