Any land or seaborne attack would be very strongly

supported by the Communist Chinese Air Force and our own air

support would have to be other than Hong Kong based. Unless

this outside air support, whether in aircraft or missile form,

was made available at the outset of an enemy attack, the

overwhelming air supremacy of the CCAF would render the position

of our own Naval and Land Forces untenable. An estimate of

the CAF sortie rates and bomb loads is at Appendix 'C'.
