Any land or seaborne attack would be very strongly
supported by the Communist Chinese Air Force and our own air
support would have to be other than Hong Kong based. Unless
this outside air support, whether in aircraft or missile form,
was made available at the outset of an enemy attack, the
overwhelming air supremacy of the CCAF would render the position
of our own Naval and Land Forces untenable. An estimate of
the CAF sortie rates and bomb loads is at Appendix 'C'.
