My telegram No.169.

The Kowloon riot was ignored in yesterdays Peking press. In todays "Peoples Daily" there is a Cantonese message on the front page in which "Comfort Mission" disputes the Hong Kong press release and protests against our actions and the [grp undec] arrest of 3 other "Patriotic workers" is referred to as part of the same plot. There are also 3 general protests by the Democratic Womens League (8th March is International Womens Day) by the All China Association Literary and Artistic Circle (a connexion with expulsion [sic] of cinema workers) and jointly by 3 Youth organisations. These protests contain nothing new.
