Note by the Secretary.
In accordance with C.0.S.(41) 41st Meeting, Conclusion 3(a), the Ministry of Supply were invited to take the necessary measures to increase production of containers type G. The attached note* about the supply of these containers has now been received from the Ministry.
2. From this it will be seen that provided the Air Ministry and War Office are prepared to accept a large proportion of type E containers, in lieu of type G, the position is not as unsatisfactory as was at first feared. The weekly production of five thousand type G containers, if it can be maintained, should be more than enough to meet Admiralty requirements+ in the near future and leave
some surplus to work off Army requirements.+
3.
It is suggested, therefore, that no further action is at present necessary unless the Air Ministry or War Office consider that the type E container is likely to prove an unsatisfactory substitute for type G.
