II MEDIATE.
JL/13 Cipher 10/1.
Following from G.0.C., I have been examining defence problem of Sierra Leone and Freetown and am convinced R.A.F. aircraft are urgently required at Freetown particularly for distant reconnaissance. As indicated in my J.L./8 dated 8/1 R.A.F. proposal now includes the stationing of one G.R.
I have consulted C. in squadron at Kissi toun near Freetown.
C. South Atlantic who has telegraphed his recommendations to Admiralty in his 1559N of 1/1 and an fully in agreement with him that G.R. squadron should be sent out earliest. The personnel could be housed in temporary accommodation pending completion of permanent quarters. Will inform you later date temporary accommodation will be ready. Request Air Ministry be asked to despatch to this squadron as soon as possible.

Following from G.0.C. West Africa. Further to my JL/13 10th January. Estimated erection temporary accommodation will take 6 (repeat 6) weeks. It would cause slight delay to main construction. Wish to emphasize necessity of R.A.F. bringing out equipment listed in final part C. in C's telegram 1559N of 1st January, addressed Admiralty.
