An concerned about protection of Takoradi from attack from seaward. Presume aerodrome and assembly depot there is now of great importance. This is near coast and open to bombardment from seaward.
Seaward defence Takoradi consists of one four-inch gun ex a merchant vessel and one 12 pounder. Report Raider not very far away recently has emphasized importance of this, also probability activities at Takoradi are now known. Recommend (a) two six-inch guns be provided and mounted there early as possible and suggest possibility that two now at Simonstown might
(b) that of be used if none available from elsewhere.
aircraft passing through three or four bombers should be maintained always available for operations against any vessel attacking from seaward. This would be an even more important deterrent than guns.
