Outside these walls in the streets comes under the Westminster County Council A.R.P. Report Centre, which is the Divisional H.Q., and the Police.

3. Junior to this Sector Post 156 each Ministry/Office in the building has its own Control Post, i.e.

Air Ministry,

Board of Trade,

(till lately Office of Works).

Air Ministry has now taken over ex Office of Works Offices for A.R.P. pending the entry of G.H.Q. - H.F.

These three Control Posts report to the Sector Post 156 which, in its turn, reports to Westminster County Council Report Centre - run by Westminster County Council.

5. C.W.R. comes under the Air Ministry A.R.P. Control Post Room 14a Sub-Basement in Air Ministry, Telephone Air Ministry, ABBey 3411, Ex.5458, Officer in Charge, Mr. Murray.

This Control Post is responsible for all inside Air Ministry Building, and on its roof. It maintains two watchers on the Air Ministry roof to:-

(a) keep a look-out on the Central Look-out Post on

top of 55, Broadway, (St.James Park Station), for the Imminent Danger from Aircraft Overhead signal, and when seen, to report it to the Air Ministry Control Post and ring the warning bells which direct people to descend to the A.R. shelters:

deal with incendiary bombs on the roof:

ascertain when gas is about and report it to the

Control Post.

These two men (Jim Crows) have orders to descend to shelter when things on the roof get too hot for them.

As regards (a) and (b) paragraph 5, these two points are not concerned with gas.

7. As regards (c) paragraph 5:

If the Sector Post in the Ministry of Health or the Report Centre (Westminster County Council) hear there is gas about they will warn all other Posts.

On receiving a report of gas, the Air Ministry Control Post will order the C.W.R. Fan Room to put the C.W.R. Gas Filters into action.

8. The Air Ministry Officer in Charge of A.R.P. informs me that he has no men trained in gas detection.
