PLANS TO MEET A CERTAIN EVENTUALITY: COMMUNICATION TO COMMANDERS-IN-CHIEF.
Report by the Joint Planning Sub-Committee.
We recommend that Commanders-in-Chief at Home and Overseas should be informed, immediately of current thought · regarding our policy and plans in the event of a collapse of Trench resistance.
2.
To this end, we recommend that Service Departments should be instructed:
(a) To despatch forthwith to Commanders-in-Chief the telegrams which have already been sent to Dominion Governments and to British Missions and Liaison Officers. (Annexes I and II to C.0.s. (40) 180th Meeting.)
(b) To keep Commanders-in-Chief posted from time to
time with any subsequent policy or plans which may be decided upon.
