If the islands are captured the following pármanent garrison would be required:-

6. AZORES

1 Artillery Regiment.

1 Heavy A.A. Regiment.

1 Light A.A. Regiment Group.

R.D.F. Station.

Anti-Submarine defences.

1 Bomber Squadron.

1 Fighter Squadron.

Defence Forces.

2 Light Defences at Fagal, and at San Miguel

and a small Portuguese garrison of 2 battalions.

Forces required to capture,

Owing to the scarcityof good beaches and landing places and the prevalence of heavy ocean swell 16 211 be necessary to make frontal assaults on the harbour. nd strong naval covering fire will therefore be necessary.

1 Battleship to neutralise the batteries and 2 destroyers.

Reconnaissance Aircraft,(1 flight of obsolete type to be added to the garrison after capture.
