Construction of Act as to counties.

The provisions of this Act with respect to the valuation of property for the purposes of rates, shall not apply to any parish to which the Valuation Metropolis Act, 1889, extends, and any parish to which that Act extends shall not be liable to contribute towards any sums defrayed out of the county fund for the purposes of the 3 said Act, and any parish in the metropolis, to which the Valuation Metropolis Act, 1869, does not extend shall be liable to contribute in proportion to its rateable value to all expenses payable out of the county fund for the purposes of the said Acts, and the vestry shall comply with an order of the county council for such payment 10 and shall pay the same out of their general rate, and the vestry of such parish shall be entitled to appoint representatives to sit on the county council, and the statutory committee, and act and vote on all matters relating to the Valuation Acts, and the number of representatives shall be such as may be agreed on by the county 18 council, or in default of agreement may be determined by the Local Government Board.

33. With respect to the construction of this Act as to counties, there shall be enacted the provisions fellowing; that is to say,

(a.) The ridings of Yorkshire and the divisions of Lincolnshire, 20

shall respectively be separate counties.

(b.) In the case or the county of York and the county of Lin- coln respectively, the administrative business which would, if this Act had not passed, have been transacted by the justices of the county at large at their gaol sessions or other sessions, by what- 25 ever name called, shall be transacted, in the case of the county of York, by a joint committee of the county councils of the counties constituted by the three ridings of Yorkshire; and in the case of the county of Lincoln by a joint committee of the county councils of the three counties constituted respectively 80 by the three divisions of the said county of Lincoln. (c.) A joint committee for the purposes of this section shall be formed of such number of members and shall be chosen in such manner and at such time as may be arranged between the several county councils by which such committee is formed, or 35 in case they differ by the Local Governinent Board. (d.) A joint committee formed in pursuance of this section shall,

in respect of the business to be transacted by them, stand in. the same position as if the county at large were not divided for the purposes of county councils, and as if such committee were 40 the county council of the county at large.
