Transaction of business by county council.

wardens, and if the number of such chairmen exceeds one fourth, such of those chairmen not exceeding the said fourth as the said quarter sessions select, shall be such warden.

Chairman of the County.

8. (1.) The chairman of the county shall be a fit person elected B by the council from among the wardens or councillors or persons qualified to be such.

(2.) An outgoing warden is eligible.

(8.) The term of office of the chairman of the county shall be one year, but he shall continue in office until his successor has taken 10 office.

(4.) The chairman of the county may receive such remuneration as the council think reasonable.

(5.) The chairman of the county shall be, during the period of his office, and during the year immediately succeeding his year of 15 his office, a justice of the peace for the county, and if there is any liberty in the county having a separate commission of the peace, for such liberty also.

9. A county council may transact their business by means of such general meetings of their body or of committees of their body, 20 or by the agency of any individual member or members of their body, as the council may think expedient, and may make such regulations with respect to the summoning, notice, place, manage- ment, and adjournment of such meetings, and generally with respect to the transaction and management of business, including 25 the quorum at meetings of the council, as they think fit, subject to the provisions of this Act, provided as follows :-

(u.) A committee to be called a statutory committee shall be established in every electoral division of the county, and shall consist of the members of the county council representing 30 such division, and such additional members of the county council, not exceeding the number of members representing such division, as the council may appoint; and Secondly, that the members elected by town councils of boroughs

shall not act or vote in respect of any question arising before 85 the county council relating to matters which involve the expenditure out of a fund to which such borough does not

contribute.
