The expression "quarter sessions" means the justices in quarter or general sessions assembled, and includes justices assernbled in gaol, sessions, annual general sessions, and adjourned sessions:
The expression “parish” means a place for which a separate 5 overseer is or can be appointed at the time of the passing of this Act:

The expression “guardians" means guardians elected under the 10 Poor Law Amendment Act, 1884, and the Aots amending the same, and includes guardians or other bodies of persons per- forming under any local Act the like functions to guardians under the Poor Law Amendment Act, 1884 : The expression “poor law union

means any parish or union of 15 parishes subject to the control of guardians.
The expression "highway board" means a highway board con- situted in pursuance of the Highway Act, 1862, and the Highway Act, 1864, or one of such Acts :
The expression "person" includes any body of persons, whether 20
corporate or incorporate:
The expression “property” includes all property, real and per- sonal, and all estates, interests, easements, and rights, whether equitable or legal, in, to, and out of property real and personal, including things in action:

The expression "petty sessional division means any division for the holding a special sessions formed or to be formed under the provisions of the Act of the ninth year of the reign of his late Majesty King George the Fourth, chapter forty-three, or any Act amending the same; also any division of a county or of a 80 riding, division, parts or liberty of a county, having a separate commission of the peace in and for which petty sessions or special sessions are usually held, whether in one or more place or places, in accordance with any custom, or otherwise than under the said last-mentioned Act; but does not include 85 any city, borough, town corporate, or district constituted a petty sessional division by the Act of the session of the twelfth and thirteenth years of the reign of Her present Majesty, chapter eighteen, intituled "An Act for the holding of petty sessions of the peace in boroughs, and for providing places for the holding of such petty sessions in counties and "boroughs":
