As to officers transferred
to county councils.
86. The enactments relating to the county police force shall apply in like manner as if the county council were therein substituted for the quarter sessions.
Existing Officers.
87. A person holding office as clerk of the peace of a county at the passing of this Act shall, subject as herein-after mentioned, become the clerk of the county council in like manner as if he had been appointed by the council under this Aot.
A person holding office as county treasurer or county surveyor at 10 the passing of this Act, and all inspectors of weights and measures, public analysts, inspectors of petroleum or explosives, and all other officers under the justices of the county who perform any duties in respect of the business which is transferred in the county council, shall become the officers of the county council.

Where any of the powers and duties of a town council are by this Act transferred to a county council, all officers and servants of the town council employed in relation to such powers and duties at the time of the transfer shall from and after the date thereof become in respect of such powers and duties the officers of the county 20 council.
88. The officers and servants of the justices in quarter or general sessions assembled, or of any town council, who by virtue of this Act become officers and servants of a county council (in this Act referred to as existing officers), shall have the same relative rank, 23 be in the same position, and hold their offices by the same tenure and upon the same terms and conditions, and receive the same salaries or remuneration, and be entitled to the same pensions (if any), as they would have been entitled to if this Act had not been passed.

The council may distribute the business to be performed by such officers in such manner as they may think just, and every such officer shall perform such duties in relation to such business as may be directed by the council, with this qualification, that except with his consent, the duties required to be performed by 85 him shall be the same or analogous to those which he has hitherto performed.
