(Previous
Reference: Cabinet 32 (28). Con- clusion 9.)
1. The President of the Board of Trade reported
to the Cabinet that progress was being made towards
an important Amalganation in the Cotton Industry.
The Chairman (whose name he mentioned) of the new
Amalgamation had been selected, and the Banks were
behind the scheme. He particularly asked that this
information might be kept secret until it was
announced. In addition, Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister
mentioned that all the Operatives' Unions were
included on the industry's Joint Committee of
Inquiry.
There was now no risk of a lock-out.
