Nos. 3 and 4 double companies will remain at headquarters and form part of the Kowloon Reserve.

Dress Marching order, khaki, water-bottles filled, and one day's cooked rations in haversacks.

5,500 rounds of ball ammunition per Maxim gun, 100 rounds per rifle, and 24 rounds per pistol, to be issued by the Quartermaster, who will also at once issue all mobilization equipment on regimental charge proportionately to all companies.

The Quartermaster will issue ammunition under the following procedure

If sufficient ammunition, including musketry practice ammunition, is in store for the whole regiment and Maxim guns, he will issue it in the proportions laid down above.

If, however, sufficient ammunition is not available in store, he will first complete the pouch ammunition of the two detachments taking the field, and issue the balance to the Maxim guns in equal proportions, and at once indent on the Ordnance Depart- ment for the amount required to complete the pouch ammunition of the whole regiment, which he will issue immediately on receipt.

He will also indent on the Ordnance Department for the 1st and 2nd Reserve ammunition to the double companies allotted to the Kowloon Reserve.

3. Nos. 1 and 2 double companies will each be brought up to a strength of—

by drafts from Nos. 3 and 4 double companies, these drafts being composed of such castes as are suitable to the castes in them.

4. Men's kits limited to 40-lb. per man, and officers' baggage limited to 200-lb. per officer (including camp equipage). Officers' mess stores, all mobilization equipment which has been issued, and Maxim guns with their ammunition, will be conveyed by fatigue parties from the double companies in reserve and stacked alongside the Kowloon Police Pier for removal on arrival of the water transport, care being taken to prevent the stores of the two parties becoming mixed. Officers Commanding the two detachments will detail the necessary baggage guards.

5. The Officers Commanding Nos. 1 and 2 detachments will each detail an escort of 1 British officer, 1 N.C.O., and 6 men to attend at the Ordnance Office at the hour which will be notified to them by the Camp Adjutants of their Sections of the Defence to assist in drawing the reserve ammunition and field equipment for their detachments, and for its conveyance to section headquarters. These escorts will take charge of the coolies employed and insure that none desert,

The officers will report their arrival to the Camp Adjutants of their Sections of the Defence at the Ordnance Office.

6. No requisitions for water transport or coolies will be required, as the O.C.A.S.C has information of the amount required for the move of the regiment.

7. All baggage and stores left behind will be stored by companies in the Quarter- master's Stores, and a guard of 1 N.C.O. and 6 men, which will also act as the regi- mental quarter-guard, mounted over them. This guard will be furnished by the double companies allotted to the Kowloon Reserve.

8. All other regimental guards will be withdrawn and will join their companies. 9. All guards on duty in the forts will be relieved by the Royal Artillery, and will join their companies immediately on relief, utilizing the empty R.A. transport for their return to regimental headquarters.

10. The following garrison guards will be furnished by the companies allotted to the Kowloon Reserve, and will proceed to their respective guards forthwith, relieving any men of Nos. 1 and 2 double companies who may be on duty, who will join their
