as they can be constructed. The number and extent of these, with estimated time for construction, are shown in detail in the several Sectional Schemes.

Schedule VIII (c), annexed to this Chapter, gives an estimate of the cost of these mat-sheds.

Nearly all the sites for projected works and encampments being on unoccupied ground belonging to the Colonial Government, there will be but little difficulty or cost in connection with utilizing the sites as proposed.

Extension of Piers. It is very desirable that a pier should be erected opposite to North Point Battery, and that the stone pier on the south-east of Stonecutter's Island should be lengthened, for facilitating communications and landing of troops, &c., at those points.
