The position is commanded by high ground above the redoubt.

1. By bombardment.

2. By landing.

1. Two 9-inch guns, assisted by fire from Kowloon Dock and Kowloon East.

2. The attack would probably be on the redoubt, and the larger portion of the infantry should be stationed there to meet it.

In battery or redoubt according to attack.

There are no tanks. Plenty of barrels should be supplied, and be kept filled by coolie labour from stream to east of battery.

Daily rations and seven days' supply of biscuit and tinned meat.

Good road exists to head-quarters and Lyemun. The nearest landing-place for launches is at Whitfield Police Station, 800 yards from fort. Telephone line exists between fort and head-quarters, and also with Lyemun. Visual signalling must be used between fort and redoubt.

Mode of opposing.

Kowloon East is commanded by the Cameron Ranges; the position is too much extended for the troops available. If a landing is effected, and the hills occupied behind Kowloon Dock, the fort is commanded by them.

1. Bombardment.

2. From land side.

3. By landing on the position.

1. The guns of Kowloon Dock Battery and Kowloon East (when completed), assisted by North Point.

2. The redoubt at Kowloon East, or temporary works in line of Kowloon East, if not finished, to be occupied by the greater part of the infantry, and small parties sent out at night to occupy the low hills to the east and west of this.

3. Not likely to be attempted unless Lyemun has fallen, and in that case this position would probably be reinforced, and a landing could probably be repulsed. With troops allotted, they would probably be down at Kowloon Dock and Kowloon East and have to hold them,

To be removed.

To be replaced by 9" R.M.L.

Gun not received.
