23. Sick Report.-You will render a report to the P.M.O., through the F.C., of any sick or wounded requiring removal to Hospital.
24. Rations. You will forward to the F.C. by 9 A.M. a ration indent in bulk commencing on the second day of mobilization. You will establish a ration sub-depôt of reserved supplies, only to be drawn upon in the event of the rations for any day failing to reach you.
25. Expenditure of Ammunition. You will forward to the F.C. daily a statement of the expenditure of ammunition; a duplicate should be sent to the Armament Staff Officer.
26. Stand to Arms 1 Hour before Daybreak.-All men of the first relief R.A., and those men of R.E. and infantry on duty, should be got under arms an hour before daybreak daily, and will remain so till the order to dismiss is received from Head- quarters. In case of alarm at any time all the R.A. reliefs on duty will double to their places in action. The R.A. relief on duty will supply a look-out by day and be ready to man the guns at a moment's notice.'

27. Look-outs on Guns.-It will supply two armed look-outs by night. the R.A. relief will be accommodated close to the guns by night in temporary shelters, the remainder will sleep in tents or barracks adjacent, and be ready to turn out instantly on alarm. An armed sentry will be posted from the relief on duty to patrol the rear of the battery during the night.
28. Lights in Gun Emplacements.-Lights must be ready for gun emplacements of 6-in. batteries and 12-pr. Q.F. batteries. Magazines need not be kept lighted since the supply of ammunition must be from the recesses, which should be kept filled.
29. Ammunition, Movable Armament.-You will increase the number of rounds per piece of the 4-15-prs. on the Mainland to 100 rounds per piece.
30. Look-outs Report to F.C. any Ships Sighted.--A look-out will be posted in the B.C's. Post from sunrise to sunset. After sunset, or when there is a fog, two look-outs will be posted. The look-out will report at once to the B.C. all ships of
any kind observed, giving a description of each vessel with its position when observed and its apparent course. Look-outs will be posted every two hours.
The usual entry will also be made in the log-book.
At night and in foggy weather should any boat or vessel be observed by the look-outs attempting to enter the harbour, the alarm will be given and a description of the vessel or vessels sent to the F.C.

31. Diary for each Work. The Senior Officer of each work will keep a diary showing the time and short description of any important event, such as the times when sentries were relieved, alarms given, apparent damage to the enemy by fire, expenditure of ammunition, &c.
32. Reserve.-The R.A. Reserve will be situated in barracks, and be available for any point. It should be noted that their special work is the supply of ammunition.
33. Copy of Instructions in Fort Record Books, and F.C. Post.-A copy of these instructions should be placed in the fort record books of all batteries. Those portions of the instructions which concern particular batteries should also be abstracted and put into fighting books. Should there be any local considerations, which have not been. dealt with herein, full instructions should be added in the fort record books to meet them (i.e., Examination Services).
34. R.E., Infantry, R.A.M.C.- Special orders concerning R.E., infantry, and
R.A.M.C. details.
The O.C. infantry company will report to you.
Guards will be found by the infantry as follows:--
By Day.-Piquets on-
South Shore Pier, 2 n.c.os. and 6 privates.
East Pier, 2 n.c.os. and 6 privates.
Engine House, 2 n.c.os. and 6 privates.
