Third officer (in peace time the O. i/e Barracks) as Officer i/c Transport. Fourth officer as Officer i/c Supplies and Transport, mainland section. He will be assisted by the Inspector of Army Schools in supply duties.

18. All transport required for movement of troops, equipment, &c., will be at once provided by the O. i/c Transport, according to the scale laid down in Table G (iii), and requisitions already in his possession.

19. The O. i/e Transport will at once place himself in communication with the Harbour Master, in order to obtain any extra water transport which he may be unable to obtain under existing contracts.

20. Table G (iii), war stage, shows the detail of transport required for the distribution of troops with their equipment, &c., to their various posts. All the transport required in this table will be maintained until all the troops and stores have been distributed to their posts, when the whole or part may be discharged at the discretion of the Director of Supplies and Transport, who will bear in mind the contingency of sections having to be reinforced, and provide thereafter. 840 coolies will be required for the carriage of the movable armament on the first day.

21. The guns of the movable armament will be moved into position by the Royal Garrison Artillery.

22. Two coolie corps will be formed, consisting of 12 headmen and 240 coolies each. The headmen will be English-speaking Chinamen. The headquarters of these coolie corps will be, one in Victoria Barracks, and the other at Whitfield Barracks, Kowloon, which will be vacated by the native troops on mobilization.

N.B.-Coolies required as telephone linemen will be provided by C.E. Any H.K. Volunteers employed as telephonists will provide their own transport to their respective stations, sending in their claims to the Officer i/c Transport.

(3.) Barracks.

23. No special arrangements are required for housing of troops in barracks. When distributed for defence, the majority of the garrison will be accommodated under canvas or in mat-sheds.
