fuel for British troops, also oil for signalling purposes, and magazine candles, will at once be stored, and one week's rations for native troops.

Island Section.-(a.) One at Sanitarium. (b.) One near Wong-nei-cheong Gap. Western Fire Command.—(a.) One at Stonecutters. (b.) One at Belchers. Eastern Fire Command.-One at Lyemun.

Mainland Section.-The main depôt at Sacred Hill will suffice at the commence- ment of the war stage.

8. The rations stored at the above sub-sections will be held on charge by the Officers Commanding Sections for Fire Commands concerned, and will be treated as a reserve, only to be drawn upon in an emergency or at the direction of the Officer i/c Supplies. Should this reserve be necessarily drawn upon at any time, the depôt will be replenished to a full week's supply as soon afterwards as possible.

9. The Victoria main depôt will be under the charge of the O. i/c Supplies, while that at Sacred Hill, Kowloon, is in charge of the Inspector of Army Schools, under the direction of the A.S.C. Officer i/c Mainland Section.

10. The Victoria main depôt will feed the sub-depôts on the Island of Hong Kong and at Stonecutters.

11. The Officer i/e Supplies will apply to Officers Commanding Sections for guards for sub-depôts formed after mobilization.

In the case of sub-depôts being formed prior to mobilization, he will indent on the D.A.A. and Q.M.G. for these guards.

12. Table G (v) shows the supplies required for the European troops, the native troops, and the Chinese auxiliaries permanently employed; the further quantities to be laid in, in case of expected war, to complete two months' reserve; the steps necessary for procuring such additional supplies, how and whence they are to be procured.

(2.) Transport,

(i.) At the Precautionary Stage.

13. Table G (ii), Chapter III, shows the detail of transport required for the distribution of troops and stores to their allotted positions.

14. Requisitions made out during peace time, on Army Form F 756, are in the possession of the O.C. A.S.C., who will cause the transport to be despatched to the several units immediately the order is given to mobilize for the precautionary stage. Consequently, it is of the utmost importance that any changes in the disposition of the troops or armament should at once be brought to the notice of the O.C. A.S.C. as soon as decided upon.

15. The 5-in howitzer and 2·95-in. guns of the Volunteers will be placed in their mobilization positions by H.K.S.B., R.G.A., assisted by 50 coolies during this period.

(ii.) At the War Stage.

16. The Director of Supplies and Transport will immediately take steps to ensure:--

(a.) The provision of coolies and of all transport, land and water, required for the distribution of all personnel and material, applying for assistance, if necessary, to the Captain Superintendent of Police.

(b.) The organization, maintenance, and housing of two coolie corps and the provision of certain other coolies required by the troops.

(c.) The accommodation of the necessary supplies, their distribution, storage heeen datid and efficient protection.

17. The distribution of the A.S.C. officers as under

Second officer A.S.C. as Officer i/e Supplies. One main supply account will be kept by this officer comprising the whole garrison, both island and mainland.
