Personnel and Stores required for Mine Sweeping.
For sweeping, each pair of boats (3 pairs in all) is to carry the following per-
sonnel :-
1 W.O. or sub-lieutenant.
2 P.Os. as coxswains.
1 T.G.M.
5 A.Bs.
1 signalman.
1 carpenter rating.
6 unskilled ratings (Chinese).
In the steam-boat of the Directing Officer there are to be :
1 P.O. (Chinese).
1 A.B.
1 signalman.
Each sweeping boat is to carry the following stores in addition to such water and provisions as the Directing Officer may order :-
2 kites (1 spare).
2 sweeps (3 spare to each pair of boats). 2 rifles.
100 rounds of ammunition.
1 telescope.
megaphone.
*1 boat's bag.
1 boatswain's bag.
1 carpenter's bag.
1 surgical bag.
1 compass.
1 chart.
1 answering pendant and staff.
1 lantern.
Candles.
1 handaxe.
20 lifebelts.
1 red burgec.
1 bamboo mast and yard, with stays and
halyards.
NOTE.-One boat's signal book to each boat.
The steam-boat of the Directing Officer is to carry :—
4 spare kites.
4 spare sweeps.
1 set of boat flags.
20 lifebelts.
1 boat's signal book.
1 megaphone.
