(CCCC.)—Action by Provost Marshal.
He will establish his office at the Detention Barracks, and will act under the orders. of the Major, General Staff.
(D.)-Action by Officer Commanding Royal Artillery.
(i.) At the Precautionary Stage.
1. He will at once issue the necessary orders for the movement into the batteries, works, and posts, in accordance with Table B (i) of artillery manning details of sufficient strength to man the guns in case of emergency, and will arrange for their accommodation and for transport in accordance with Table F (i).
2. He will relieve the native infantry guards at the batteries by the artillery detachments sent out to man the works, and will assume the responsibility for the protection from theft or malicious injury of all guns, equipment, and stores in "batteries, P.F. cells, F.C. posts, and R.A. storehouses.
3. He will arrange for the placing in position of such guns of movable armament as the G.O.C may direct; will provide the necessary fatigue parties, and arrange with O.C.A.S.C. for the coolies required.
4. He will hand over to the infantry officers concerned any machine guns (with complement of ammunition) required, in addition to those in infantry charge, on posts or defensive works.
5. He will draw from the C.0.0. for every effective man in his command, the allowance of s.a.a. laid down in Chapter III (H), paragraph 3.
6. He will arrange for the connecting up of the telephones on the R.A. command ¡lines, and for the provision of telephone operators for these lines.
7. He will arrange with the Harbour Master as to handing over to that official the stores for the examination vessels which are in R.A. charge.
8. He will at once make good any deficiencies which may exist in gun ammunition, equipment, and R. A. stores.
(ii.) At the War Stage.
1. He will issue the orders necessary, in accordance with Tables D (ii) (Manning Tables) and B (ii), for the garrisoning of the batteries, artillery works and posts; for the provision of signallers for the examination vessels, and detachments for R.A. look-out posts.
2. He will issue the orders necessary for the movements of the guns of movable armament with their detachments and ammunition to their positions in the sections of defence, in accordance with Table B (ii), and will take over from the A.S.C. the coolies required for this purpose and for working ammunition lifts.
3. He will hand over the machine guns on R.A. charge, which are assigned to positions in the defence, to the Officers Commanding the Sections concerned, in accordance with Table B (ii).
4. He will assume the responsibility of keeping the batteries in guns of movable armament supplied with ammunition.
