Five steamers will thus be required to be on duty on the examination grounds at one time and one for carrying relief crews, &c. Each steamer will have at least two | masts high enough for the flags or lanterns denoting her character, and will also have the means for making signals by whistle or siren.
4. There are in Hong Kong seven sets of the stores for examination vessels, as shown below, six of which are on R.A. charge and one set held in reserve in A.O.D. stores. There are also 6-7-pr. R.M.L. guns and stores, as shown, in R.A. charge.
There are three sets of stores for examination batteries, one set in each examination battery.
