(D.)-Action by Officer Commanding Royal Artillery.
1. He will arrange with the C.O.O. as to the time of issue of armament, gun ammunition, and artillery stores, &c., from Ordnance Stores, drawing any reserve that may
be in store.
2. He will take over from the O.C.A.S.C., up to the numbers that may be forth- coming, the coolies required for working the ammunition lifts and for moving the guns of the movable armament into their respective positions.
3. He will arrange with the C.R.E. as to the preparation of the howitzer platforms at High West, Mount Kellet, Mount Cameron, and Mount Parker, and any necessary works in connection with the other gun positions.
4. He will at once arrange for connecting up the telephones for the R.A. chain of command, and will also arrange for telephone operators in the F.Cs.' posts at Stone- cutters West, Belchers, Kowloon East, and Lyemun, which are connected to main
fortress command lines.
5. He will at once issue the orders necessary for the garrisoning of the forts, and for the movement of the H.K.S.B.R.A. with their guns to their sections of defence.
6. He will ensure that the full complement of ammunition is stored at the fort magazines, and will keep the movable armament supplied, obtaining the necessary transport from the A.S.C.
7. The Artillery chain of command is given in Table D.
The ammunition details have been reduced to the lowest possible limit, and it is proposed to employ Chinese coolies at the ammunition lifts. It is considered that a very short instruction will render them efficient.
8. The fixed armament is complete, but not in all cases the latest approved for the Colony; part of the movable armament is held in reserve by the A.O.D.
