Messrs. J. P. Bisset & Co. of Shanghai in their Share Report for the week ending January 7th, 1909, state:-Since our last issue for the week ending December, 23, the Stock Exchange". has been closed for the Christmas and New Year Holidays from December 25 to January 4, and .therefore there fa little business to report. Bank-Hongkong and Shanghai Banks.We hear of a transaction at $850. The T.T. rate on London to-day is 2/3. Insurance.--North-China Ins Co.-A transaction is reported at Tis. 100. Yangtsze Insurance Association shares are in demand, and the rate has imprved to $180. Shipping. Shanghai Tug and Light Ord. shares have changed hands at Tis. 474. Docks and Wharves-Shanghai Dock and Engineering Co. -- Business has been done for cash at Tls. 774 ex dividend, and Tls. 80 for March. Shanghai and longkew Warves.-Sules have been made for March at gradually declining rates from Tis.. 144 to Tls, 140. Sugar Cos.-Perak shares have improved to Tls. 95. Mining.-There is no bus- iness reported. Lands. Shanghai Land Invest- ment shares are in demand at Tls. 120. Anglo- French Lands are wanted at Tls. 101. Industrial
