GENERAL EXPORTS.

"ish Oil-About 20,000 cases have been taken out of the market at about Yen 7.50 per 100 kin. pper. Some small transactions are reported at Yen 36 per 100 kin for Furukawa Bessemer.

SILK REPORT.

During the last fortnight a veritable debacle has taken place in our market, and prices have receded by about Y. 1.50 all round. The principal reason for this almost unprecedented fall bas been the financial crisis experienced in New York. which caused a panic among holders and pro- ducers of Raws, and gave the "Bears" free play in the open market, as well as on the local Silk Exchange, to such an extent that the latter place bad finally even to be closed for the time being Under these circumstances, all prices are absolutely nominal and irregular, and prospects for the future exceedingly gloomy.

WASTE BILK.

In reference to our report of the 4th Sep- tember, 1907, in which we called attention to the fact that Foreign Waste Silk Merchants of Yokohams have resolved not to buy any Kibizzo (Kikai Kibizzo down to low grades) containing frau lulent matter, we regret to bave to report that Messrs. Carlowitz & Co. of Kobe cannot see their way just at present to join this resolution. Market.-Holders being more inclined to meet buyers, a few transactions have gone through in Kibizzo Filatures, but in general the market still remains inactive with a declining tendency.

The vexations agitation concerning the Railway loan is possibly acountable for sluggish- ness in the more neighbouring markets, but it is to be hoped the firm attitude of the Central Government will be efficacious in putting a stop to the puerila attempts to create trouble. certainly shows that those at the head of affairs now are determined to stand no nonsense and are prepared to govern the Country without any extraneous assistance. From Messrs. Ilbert & Co.'s Weekly Market Report, dated Shanghai, November 28, 1907 :- There has been more doing in certain classes of goods and yarn this week, but a large proportion of the business reported consists of re-sales by Chinese at very poor prices even compared with the lower level to which most of the producing Messrs.
