Messrs. J. P. Bisset & Co.'s Share Report for the week ending August 1st, 1907, states:--▲ fairly quiet week's business included the July settlement on the 30th. There is nothing of any special interest to record. The T. T. on London to-day to 3/01. Banks,-Hongkong and Shanghai Banks.In the absence of business rates are as previously quoted, viz., $690 for the old shares and $520 for the new. Marine and Fire Insurances.--- No business reported. Shipping.-No business reported. Shanghai Tugs. There are buyers for hoth Ordinary and Preference shares at Tl. 40. Docks and Wharves.-Shanghai Dock and Engi. neering Co., Ld. The Tls. 3 dividend was paid yesterday and the shares are now quoted T3, 72 ex div.
For September Tls. 73 can be obtained, and for December Tis. 74. Shanghai and Hongkew Wharf Shares. The market opened with sales at Tls. 228 for July and Tls. 233 for September. A slight weakness has set in since, and after tran- sactions at Tls. 227 for cash the rates for Sept. dropped to Tls, 232, and subsequently to Tls, 231. The market closes with sellers at Tis. 231 and buyers at Tls, 230. Sugar Cos.-No business reported. Mining. -No business reported. Lands -Shanghai Lands, A few shares can be obtained at Tls. 100. Industrial-Ewos. The cash rate is nominally Tls. 64 with buyers for September at Tla. 64, and sellers at Tls. 654. International Cottons, and Laou Kung Mow Cottons. No busi- ness reported this week. Shanghai Gas Co. have advanced to Tls. 109. Maatschappij, etc., in Langkats. Some shares changed hands for cash at Tls, 305. Messrs. Wheelock & Co.'s Freight Market Report dated Shanghai, 1st August, 1907, has the considerable falling-off in the quantity of cargo following:-Since last writing there has been a offering for shipment homewards both to Europe practically finished and tea is "hanging fire" and America. The hides and wool season is now
owing to the prohibitive prices asked by the native dealer. Coastwise:-We have nothing to add to our remarks of a fortnight ago as this enquiries, no coast-cargo moving except for market is still in the same "dead" state, no regular liners, and no coal freights worth speaking of.
