Passing the judge's box for the first time the order was New Boy first, Zanzibar second and Forward third. As they passed the back stretch Highland Laird pulled into second place, and led when passing the football stand, When opposite the village Spotted Rose took third position, and as he entered the straight displaced Highland Laird, while New Boy pulled up level with the latter. There were thirteen starters for these stakes, and shortly after the start the ponies scattered. Passing the judge's stand for the first time the order was Cordite, one, Diadem, two and Frechdachs, three. Going up the back stretch, Cordite increased his lead by twelve lengths, but was overtaken by Diadem and Zapoter going ap the incline, where the field closed up, and as they again scattered in the straight Zapiter took the lead and held it until the winning post was passed, Maori King running a bad second, and Pathan third. Time-3.47 2-5. The Pari paid a dividend of $41.40. and on the first pony $11.80, second $8.2), and third $37.60.

and that the confidence which so many reposed Triumph Rose was the favourite for this race,
in him was well placed Hayes proved as he rode the Rose to victory. The field got a good start, Healther King taking the lead, with Czardas second, Ca Canny and Triumph Rose following bard in their wake.
When the football stand had been passed Czardas took the premier position, the King falling back to second, with Ca Canny third. Going up the incline Czardas still led. the other three racing neck and neck behind him until the rock was passed, when Ca Canny fell to the rear. Entering the straight Triumph Rose pulled level with Czardas, and as they neared home drow away from him, passing the winning post in a canter six lengths ahead, while about two lengths separated Czardas and Heather King. Time-2.56 4-5. Pari-Mutuel payments: Triumph Rose, $6; Czardas, $7.50; dividend $7.20.
