At the bend Rose came along on the rails and won a good race, with Zanzibar second and Sycee King third. Time, 2.55 2-5ths. The Pari-Mutuel paid $5.70, and 6-30 on winners, and a dividend of $12.

As they ran up the incline the order changed, Highland-man taking the lead, with Himalaya Rose second and Emerald King third. the field rounded the bend the King drew into first place and maintained it until the winning post was reached, passing it several lengths ahead of Himalaya Rose, with Highland-man third. (Mr Gresson) This race brought forth thirteen starters, and was one of the best of the day, the field being bunched throughout. Pathan on the rails passed the judge's box first for the first time, Wakelyn heing second and Mongolian Chief third. At the back stretch Wakelyn took the lead, Frechdachs being hard on his tracks, with Pathan third. Passing the rock Sundial headed the field with Promised Land second and the others well up. The field were close together when the straight was entered, but the race was between Sundial and Frech- dachs, the former managing to pass the post first by about a neck, Speculation being third. Time-2.25. The Pari paid on the first $7.70; second, $7.80; third, $11.60. Dividend, $22.50. THE LADIES' PURSE; Presented. Second to receive $150; and third $50. For China ponies. At the home stretch the order was Norman King, first, Saxonia second, Fortune Rose third, but the gallop down saw the favourite ride into her position. Time-2-06.
