HONGKONG, 2nd December, 1904. - The market has again ruled quiet during the week under review and there is but little business of any importance to report. The settlements ön the 30th which were comparatively small passed off satisfactorily, and rates have hardened some- Hongkong and Shangbais have found buyers at the improved rate of $7 0 and close with further buyers a that rate, but with no shares obtain ble under $715. The London rate remains uobanged at £70. Nationals are quieter with sellers at $39.

SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos remain on offer at $29 without business, and a few odd lots could probably be got at $29. Indo-Chinas in the early part of the we k ruled weak, and sales were effected at $129, $18 and 8127 cash, at $129 and $128 for Dec. $132 for March and $ ·35 for June, shares were also sold from the North at Tls, 89 and Tls. 90. At time of clos`ng, the market is firmer with buyers at $129 cash and at $133 for March. Shanghai's latest quotation is Tis. 91. and Maniles, Douglases, Star Ferries and Shells are all'unchanged and without any business to report:

REFINERIES. China Sugars ruled very weak over the settlements and it was difficult to get a buying rate, although sales were reported at $234 and $233. At time of writ- ing, however, the market is firmer, and buyers at $236 cannot be satisfied. On time shares are obtainable at rates equivalent to $236 cash, but buyers hang back, and there is but very little inclination to operate. Luzons have improved to $74 with buyers and no reported sales.
MINING. With the exception of small sales of Raubs at the reduced rate of $5 we have no business to report under this heading.
DOCKS, WHARVES, AND GODOWNS.-Hong- kong and Whampoa Docks have changed hands, chiefly over the settlements at $218 and $2184, market closing with sellers at $219. Shares are obtainable forward at rates equivalent to $2:9 cash, but no buyers come forward. Kowloon Wharves and New Amoy Docks are on offer at quotations without sales.. Farnhams are quoted in Shanghai at Tls. 173.
LANDS, HOTELS, AND BUILDINGS.-Hong- kong Lands have ruled very quiet with no busin- ess to report beyond a few very small transfers at $149 and $149. Kowloon Lands and West Points remain unchanged and without business. Humphreys Estates have rec-ded slightly to $124 old and $ sellers new. Hotels are still enquired for at $140 without bringing any but very small lots into the market.
COTTON MILLS. With the exe plion of Hongkongs, which have advanced to $121, there is "o change or business to report.

At closing
the market is very strong and cash and forward shares are wanted. Shanghai Tugs were placed at Tls. 48 pref. and 53 ord. Docks and Wharves,— S. C. Farnham, Boyd & Co... There is a little easier feeling in this market. The market opened on the 17th with sales at 187 and 188 December and on the 18th at 182 cash. The market has weakened to 180 cash, and December shares have been placed at 186, 185, 184), 184, 182) and 182 with sales for January at Tls. 183. The market closes weak at these rates. Sugars. No business reported. Mining.-Weihaiwai Golds have been placed at $25) and 27 December, closing with sales at 25 for November. Oriental Golds have changed hands at G. $164. TONNAGE.
HONGKONG, 2nd December.--A fair amount of business has ben transacted during the past fo tnight, mostly monthly charters for local and northern account. Cargo is scarce at Saigon and Eangkok, and there is only a limited demand for tinage from these ports. Fron Saigon to this, 12 cents nominal; to Philippines, 30 cents last and offering; to Japan, 4 cents. From Bangkok to Hongkong, the regu'ar liners are getting 321 cents per picul. Hongkong to Kobe, 32 cents has been paid for ready boats and 30 cents for loading a week bence. Wuhu to Canton, 25 can-
dareens per picul. Java to this, no inquiry. Coal freights are firm. From Moji to this, $2 30; to Singapore, 82.80; to Manila, $4.50,
