CHINA OVERLAND TRADE REPORT.
Messrs. J. P. Bisset & Co.'s Share Report for the week ending 10th November, 1904, states:- Business was resumed in earnest after the Race | holidays, on Monday, the 9th inst., nothing of any moment having been accomplished the week before: We have to record a stendy market all round, with a marked improvement in the value of Maatschappij, etc., in Langkat shares. The T. T. rute on London to-day is 2/72. Banks.--Hong- koug and Shanghai Banks. Thero luis heen nothing done during the interval. Hongkong quotea $695 sellers, and the latest London quota- tion 186, Marine and Fire Insurance.—A single transaction in North-Chinas at Tls. 85 is reported. Shipping.-Indo-Chinus. There has been a transaction at Tls. 921 for cash, but the cash and November business is very small indeed. For December, however, shares have been placed at Tls. 94, 941, and 934; for January 934 and for March Tls. 96, 95, and 94) have all been done.

The market closes easy, and we do not look for much business pending the receipt of news re- garding the interim dividend. Shanghai Tug and Lighter Co. shares have been for some time in strong demand, and close with buyers at Tis. 53 for Ordinary, and Tls. 49 for Preference, with no shares obtainable. Docks and Wharves.—S. (`. Farnham, Boyd & Co., Ltd. As usual a good business has been done in this stock at improved rates, víz., from Tls. 176 for cash up to Tls. 180. There are no transactions reported for November, but for December 181, 182, 183, 184, and 185 have heen variously recorded. The market closes fairly steady. Shanghai and Hongkew Wharves, market opened strong, and Tls. 1724 December was transacted on the 4th inst. On the 7th how- ever, shares were imported from Hongkong for December delivery at Tls. 167¦. We do not look for a drop just now in this stock. Mining- There has been a good demand for Weihaiwei Golds at $22; cash, and 23 for December, at which rate there are buyers at the close. Lands.- Shanghai Lands have remained steady at Tls. 120. Industrial. Cottons. Ewos have been placed at Tls. 24 for cash, there is an order in the market for April at Tls. 27. Shanghai Ice Co. There! are so many sellers without any demand, that we cannot quote definitely but imagine nothing bet- China ter than Tls. 18 could be got for shares. Flour Mill shares are in very strong demand at Tls. 72 for cash, and not a single share offering. For some considerable time these shares have been very difficult to obtain. Shanghai Pu- per and Pulps have been dealt in at Tls. 160 cash, Green 1614 November, 1624 and 165 December. Island Cements are quoted in Hongkong at $82Į nominal. Maatschappij Co. in Langkat. There has been a very large demand for shares this week and rates have improved from Tls. 307; to 317 for November while for December 3171, 320, 321, 3221 and 325 are duly recorded. The de- mand has been maintained for forward delivery also, and a large business has been done for March at 330, 335, and 340, closing strong with buyers at the lust rate. Shanghai Sumatras remain at Tls. 66 for cash.. Stores and Hotels. Hall and Holtz have changed hands at 831. Central Stores. Offers are wanted for shares of all
denominations. Wecks Co. are reported at $20. Astor House Hotels have improved to $294. Hotel des Colonies have sellers it Tls. 19 cash and Tls, 20

HONGKONG, 18th November.--Since last report freights continue to rule steady at about previous quotations.
From Saigou to Hongkong, there is practically. No demand, and r tes are about 13 cents per picul. From Saigon to Philippines, 28 cents per picul is the quotation at which there is a light demand for small teamers.
Fr. m Newchwang t› Canton, a settlement was effected at 50 cents per picul for prompt loadirg for shipment about 20th instant 32 cents is offered the port is xpec.ed to cluse owing to ice, about the 27th inst.
