Bupce rates all orders from the country have been cancelled, and exo pt for trifling urgent require- ments dealers have left buying severely alone. In revising our quotations, an all rund decline of about $5 per bale may be noted, even these prices are d'ficult to obtain and in the near future we fully expect to see a lower range of values ruling. Receipts during the interval have considerably exceeded the offtake, and waking every allowance for contract goods, our estimate of stock shows a very heavy increase on last figures. The inarket closes quiet and depressed.
Local Manufacture-Has suffered in sympathy with the imported article and sales of about 850 bales No. 108. ut a decline of $2 to $3 per bale are reported.
Japanese Yarn-Have shared the general de- pression, the total business of the fortnight amounting to about 400 bales No. 208. at from $182 to $127.
Raw Cotton:-There is no relief in the continued quietness of this article. Country orders are trifling, our Mill is not in evidence, and Japan and Shanghai offer no inducement for export and altogether a blank fortnight has been experienced in both Indian and China kinds. Stocks are estimated at about 5,000 bales Indian and 500 bales small) Chinese. Quotations are Bengal $21 to $24 und China $25 to $27.
CanTox, 2îrd April : - Export. Filature dull and depressed tone has characterised the market throughout the fortnight! The weather a far is very favourable for the First Crop The loaves are unusually advanced and plentiful and the expectation of a full yieki has influenced holders to ralise the balance of their season's stocks. The weaker tendency reported in our last has developed into a steady decline, and the whole range of values shows a heavy drop on quotations of that date, discounted, however. to some extent by an advance of 2 per cent. in exchange. The stock on offer is now very small and sales made show great irregularity in prices, according to individual seller. Under present conditions the subjoined quotations must be taken as nominal. Sales include-Sam Yue Yeo 9/11 at $1,020, Quan Wo On 9/11 at $1,010, Kwong Shun Cheong 11/18, at $10 Yee Wo Loong 10/11 st $1,000, Gold Dragon and Kai Sun Cheng 13/15 at 8975/970, Yut Cheong Wo, Nam Chan 10/12 at 8060, Kai Cheong Loon0/12 at $950. In coarse sizes, Wai King Wo 18/22 after op ning at $910, sold at s 870 and has since cleared out at $840. King Wo Cheong 18/20 has been done at $341 The last day or two there is more interest apparent amongst European buyers, which rumour attri- butes to prejudical crop weather in Italy. There are, however, few desirable lote now obtainable. Arrivals of First Crop Bilk will commence in another fortnight or so. Short-reels.-The Ameri-126, from which it subsequently rallied and can trade remains quite lifeless, Kwong Shun Cheong 14/16 has been done at 1050, after selling previously at $990; and Heen Kes 1/16 is reported as sold at $010. - The season is practically finished så far as those sorts are concerned Waste Silk. ---- Some settlements of Steam were effected early in the fortnight at $189 for Extra Belected opened, but latterly advancing Exchange has put buyera out of the market. Not much old season's stock is now left and in view of the fact that fresh sup- plies will only come in with the second and subsequent Crops, holders are in on hurry to give way on present prices.||

The stock of Bombay yarn was estimated about 40,000 bales. There was nothing being done in local threads.
