MISCELLANEOUS.—Green Islands are still in request at $224, but she rate brings forth but fow shares. A. S. Watsons with an unsatisfied demand at $14! have advanced to $15, at which the market closes with further buyers. Steam Waterboats, United Asbestos and China Pro- vidents have found small buyers at quotations.

HONGKONG, April 9th, 1903.--To-morrow being Good Friday and a holiday, our report is dat da day earlier in the week than usual. Since d.te of our last the market has ruled fairly läctive, rates have been well maintained and in many cases show some improvement, while a good steady business has been transacted. At time of closing the general tone of the market is firm with more buying than selling orders.
BANKS.-Hongkong and thanghais, after further small sales at 86921, a parcel of shares. & C. Bakery being on offer without finding buyers, the mar- ket closes weaker at $690 and possibly a lower rate would be accepted. The stock, however, is hot by any means on offer generally and the slightest demand would quickly again put up rates. Nationals remain unchanged and withi ont business.

MARINE INSURANCES.Unions bave chang- ed hands in small lots at $535, China Traders at 860. Cantons at 165 and North Chinas ut $200,
FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkongs have im- proved to $310 with sales, and Chinas have been placed at $86, both stocks closing steady at quotations.
SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Cautou and Macaos have found further buyers at $38} und close steady at that rate but with sellers at $39. Indos continuo erratic with sales between $103 and $108 for cash, and at somewhat lower than equivalent rates forward to June, market clos- ing with buyers at $106 cash Longlases remain on offer at $43 without bringing out buyers. China and Manilas have changed hands at the reduced rate of $25 Star Ferries are in request both old and new atquotations. Shell Trans ports after sales at 278. 6d. remain ou offer at that rate. E
REFINERIES. China Sugars have ruled with sellers all the week at $110 and close steady with buyers at $1ị Luzons unchanged and without business.
MINING—-—Puojums have weakened slitte with sales and sellers at $3. Raubs have also declined after sales at $7 and $7 to $63. Nothing else under this be ding calls for
