fitable concerns. Meetings should be held this month of Maritima, Banco Espanol Filipino, Electric Light Co., Oriente Hotel and Stevedor- ing Co. General.-Until better facilities for loaning money pevail herr, we expect our Share Market to continue dull and lifeless. In our Circular No. 20 we called attention to the grent want of a Loan & Mortgage Co. with ample capital; such a concern could make a safe 8 per cent., and probably moro, This market offers plenty of inducement for capital, quite apart from the joint stock companies; a number of really good things go n-begging almost, for want of financial facilities. We are pleased to see the Guaranty Trust Company of New York intend opening up here later; sach a sound concern should do a most remunerative business, and the public generally will appreciate their action: from a purely political point of view, the est- ablishment of a branch of the concern namel will do good, and tend to given oven greater confidence in the Government.
