SHARE REPORT. HONGKONG, 1st November.-Business has been fairly active during the past week, and rates have been well maintained, with a ten- dency towards firmness. The October settle- ment passed off without much trouble yester. day.
BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais have ruled firm with sales at $6221 and $625, and a few shares are probably still obtainable at the higher rate. The latest London quotation is £63, Nationals are on offer at $275.
MARINE INSURANCES-Unions have im- proved to $335 buyers. China Traders have sold and are on offer at 358. North Chinas are wanted at Tis. 180 ex the final dividend of 5 Can- per cent, for 1900 paid on the 25th ult. tons are wanted at $157.
FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkongs have sold and are in further request at the improved rate of 3365. Chinas are obtainable at $85.
SHIPPING. Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have sold and are in strong demand at $35. Indo-Chinas have been placed at 8149 and $149} and are now unobtainable under $150. China- Manilas after sales at $62 to 863 are in further request at the former rate. Douglases have been done at $47 and $474, but are quieter at the Star close. China Mutuals are unchanged. Ferries are in the market at 824) (old), 391 (new). Shell Transports, after sales at £2.12.6 and £2.15.0, are in further demand at the former quotation.
REFINERIES.-China Sugars have been in' good request during the past few days, and the rate has advanced to $153, at which there are buyers. Luzons continue neglected at 325 sellers. MINING.-Punjoms have declined to 839 sellers. Jelebus are quiet at $44. Raubs after sales at $133 and 813 are further in demand at $14.
DOCKS, WHArves and GoDOWNS.-Hong- kong and Whampoa Docks have ruled steady to firm with sales at $2173 to $290 and further buyers. Hongkong and Kowloon Wharves have changed hands at $96, and in small lots at 896 and 897. The closing rate is $96 with possible buyers New Amoy Docks continue quiet at $25.
LANDS, HOTELS AND BUILDINGS.-Hong- kong Lands have sold at $193 and $194, and a few shares are now offering at the former rate. Kowloon Lands have advanced to $34 with buyers. West Points have been placed at $65 and $66, and there are buyers still in the market at the former quotation. Hong- kong Hotels have again come into request with sales at 8137 and $138, closing strong with buyers at $139. Orientes have declined to $48 with sellers. Humphreys Estates have ad- vanced to $13 buyers.
COTTON MILLS.-Ewos have improved to Tls. 46 buyer. Laou Kung Mows are firmer at Tls 50 buyers. Hongkong Cottons are unaltered at $131⁄2 buyers.
MISCELLANEOUS.-Manila Investments have been sold at the reduced rate of $47. Green Island Cements have sold at $22, and are now wanted at $221. A. S. Watsons are quiet a $16. Electrics are wanted at $13 (old) and $6) (new). Ropes have improved to $180 with buyers. Ices are wanted at $184. Dairy Farms can be placed at $9. Tobacco shares are unchanged at quotations and without business.
