HONGKONG, 23rd November. The freight market continues in about the same condition as last reported, with a fair amount of business on record. From Saigon to Hongkong, 2 steaners have been chartered at 13 cents per picul, and more tonnage might be placed at this rate; to Java 32 cents last; to Philippines, 37) cents per picul can be obtained for a small carrier. Philip- pines to one port Japan, 38 40 cents per picul is offered. Java to Hongkong, 45 cents per picul has been paid for wet sugar, but at the moiuent there is no further enquiry and 32 cents per picul might be obtained for dry sugar. Bangkok to Hongkong, 35 and 40 cents per picul (with down- ward cargo) is offered for medium-sized steamers for a few consecutive trips. Japan coal freights.— Moji to Hongkong, $3.10 to $3.15 per ton firm ; to Singapore, $3.25 per ton. Sailing vessels.- Nothing new under this head.
